Guide to Granbury, Texas

Updated: Sep 16, 2022

Y'all I have a love for small towns. They remind me of simpler times and the importance of community. Unfortunately there are a lot of small town squares that are no longer the buzzing center of the town they once were. Granbury is definitely an exception. It has been lovingly revitalized into a lovely little town where the simple things in life are appreciated: food, drinks, and community. It was the perfect spot to adventure with some sweet friends.

Full Bellies

There were so many great places to eat! Unfortunately we only got to try one, but would definitely love to come back and try 1890 Grille.

Nutshell Eatery and Bakery

We ended up here for second breakfast (ha!) They had homemade swirled cinnamon toast and it was delicious. We also enjoyed some biscuits and gravy!

We really enjoyed exploring the market. We were recommended to make a reservation for dinner. There were so many delicious olive oils and spices to try. We are always suckers for beer bread because it is a staple in Craig's family, so we went home with the Tuscan Herb Olive Oil and the Everything But the Bagel Soberdough Brew Bread.

We tried to check out brunch, but unfortunately there wasn't a table. This came highly recommended by some locals.

We popped in here to grab a bottle of wine for dinner and the manager offered to let us try a few of the wines before making our decision.

Coffee, obviously

This was a very cozy, cute coffee shop. We popped in for a to-go coffee for our drive home, but I wish that we had more time to spend hanging out and reading a good book!

We didn't get to enjoy their coffee because they are closed on Sundays, but definitely wanted to check it out because the inside is very cute!

Places to Shop

One of my favorite things is to explore a little shop with local goods. Granbury of course did not disappoint.

If you love cooking, you will be in heaven. We got some fresh coffee beans and loose leaf tea. They also had some delicious cold brew coffee and an amazing assortment of cooking gear. I was very excited to see some of my favorite olive oil from Texas Hill Country Olive Company.

Home Sweet Home and St. Helen's

These were a few of our favorites: Home Sweet Home and St. Helen's. St. Helen's had a ton of really cute stuff. I ended up leaving with some measuring spoons and a coffee mug.

I am always in heaven when I can wander around a book store and this one was very cute and had a great selection. It was exciting to see a diversity section. We have a long way to go for racial reconciliation in this country, but a diversity section in small, white town America is stepping in the right direction. I also found a Ruth Ware book that I devoured in a few days so I would call it a win.

Get Active

Lake Granbury

We actually stayed on Lake Granbury so it was perfect to be able to hop on over to the shops. The lake is beautiful.

Granbury City Beach

We didn't end up having enough time to check this out, but from pictures it seems like a sweet little beach park

Houston Street Park

This was an unexpected gem we found when trying to find parking in the square. We parked in a lot further down and walked through the park. It was a lovely little walk and the perfect cap to work off the cookies and fudge we ate at Nutshell Eatery and Bakery.

We loved spending some time in Granbury with sweet friends! We will be back for sure!
